Guimaras used to be part of Iloilo until it was declared a province in May 1992 during the time of former President Fidel V. Ramos.
Passenger ferries from Iloilo have two ports of destination in Guimaras – Jordan Wharf in the town of Jordan and MacArthurs Wharf, also known as Buenavista Wharf, in the town of Buenavista. Jordan Wharf is approximately two kilometers off the coast of Iloilo City while Buenavista Wharf is around 3 kilometers away.
Getting to Iloilo from Guimaras (and vice versa) is pretty straightforward. All you need is just go to the port, take a short ferry ride, and you’re done.
GUIMARAS TO ILOILO GUIDE
- If you are coming from Jordan or nearby towns, make your way to Jordan Wharf. If Buenavista Wharf is more convenient for you, then it is best for you to depart from there.
If you intend to take your vehicle to Iloilo, the Jordan RoRo Port is located around one kilometer away from Jordan Wharf. - Buy your ticket to Iloilo City.
- Proceed to the designated ferry to board.
- Upon arrival in Iloilo Ferry Terminal in Parola, disembark and walk outside the terminal to find the transportation of your choice. You may opt to take a tricycle, jeepney, taxi, or modernized jeepney to proceed to your next destination in Iloilo City.
ILOILO TO GUIMARAS GUIDE
- From any point in Iloilo, proceed to Iloilo Ferry Terminal in Parola. The terminal is very easy to find as it is located next to City Mall Parola.
Alternatively if you plan to take your vehicle to the island, the Iloilo-Jordan RoRo Port is located in Lapuz, less than four kilometers from the terminal in Parola. - Buy your ticket to Guimaras Island. Make sure to get the right ticket as there are two ports of destination to choose from – Jordan Wharf and Buenavista Wharf.
- Proceed to the designated ferry to board.
- Enjoy the ride to Guimaras and disembark upon arrival. Both ports have Tourism Centers where tourists will be directed to drop by in order to register. You can also ask the staff for resort and transportation recommendations if you have not reserved or arranged yours yet.
The most convenient way to get to your resort is via chartered car but you can also rent a multicab, tricycle, or take the passenger jeepney.

Starlite Ferries offers passenger-only vehicles. Travel time between Iloilo and Guimaras is just about 15 minutes
Atlantis Yohan Express
Atlantis Yohan Express have ferries sailing either to Jordan and Buenavista. Travel time is around 15 minutes.

F.F. Cruz Shipping operates the Iloilo-Jordan RoRo. The ferry departs from Iloilo-Jordan RoRo Port in Lapuz. Travel time between Iloilo and Guimaras via RoRo is around 30 minutes.
