The island of Panay, where Iloilo City is located, is separated from Negros Island, where Bacolod City is located, by Guimaras Strait. In between the two islands is the island province of Guimaras. The two islands, Panay and Guimaras, are part of Western Visayas Region while Negros Island is divded into two: Negros Occidental is part of Western Visayas while Negros Oriental is part of Central Visayas.
